Luck at the Right Time

Luck at the Right Time

Music & Lyrics by Drew Brody

I have a strange sense of biography
(my too acute belief in legacy)
aren’t you writing down everything I say?
take the picture now – I’ll never look this way again

I had a mantra but I’ve lost the sound
I’m having mirror showdowns daily now
“playtime’s over, it’s the pipers time to pay
You’re getting older, figure out what’s in your way.”

maybe all that I need
is one song a week
4 hours of sleep
and some luck at the right time
one chord of minor
for every major three
then there will be another love in my lifetime
it’s just luck at the right time

and I recall so many promises
we fell from all potential to recklessness
now I know nothing of the life that you have led
and you know nothing of the voices in my head

saying all that I need
is one song a week
4 hours of sleep
and some luck at the right time
walk a mile in my life
then walk away
they never stay
this is the get up and fight time
it’s just luck at the right time

I try to change and I am searching for a sign
I’d doanything, but it’s still not all right:
I remember nothing and everything
I’m the one who’s becoming, always

I believed that a golden star was calling
trust your heart and work hard, it’ll be okay
it’s not a given, it’s not a given, it’s not a given
it’s just luck at the right time
one chord of minor
for every major three
just like me, just like me, just like me
